HCA Healthcare’s “Crush the Crisis” Prescription Drug Take Back Program
Each year, HCA Healthcare partners with local law enforcement to host “Crush the Crisis,” a national prescription drug take back event held in alignment with the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Since 2019, HCA Healthcare has helped safely dispose of more than 88,000 pounds of unused or expired medication. The program gives community members a safe, anonymous way to dispose of medications, helping reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse in the communities HCA Healthcare serves.
29 HCA Healthcare Hospitals Recognized on Modern Healthcare’s 100 Top Hospitals
In 2026, 29 HCA Healthcare hospitals were named to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Top Hospitals Powered by Premier. Hospitals are selected based on clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience and financial health. Seven of those hospitals also earned the Everest Award, which recognizes facilities that achieved both top-tier performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

HCA Healthcare paid $7.6 billion in local, state, and federal taxes in 2025, including $4.3 billion in local and state taxes and $3.3 billion in federal taxes.
GME in Florida
HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education is the largest sponsor of residency and fellowship programs in Florida, with more than 2,000 residents and fellows enrolled in the 22 teaching hospitals across the state.
Galen College of Nursing
HCA Healthcare acquired majority ownership of Galen College of Nursing in 2020, one of the largest nursing educators in the country. Today, Galen supports 24,330 students across 28 campuses nationwide. HCA Healthcare employs 98,100 registered nurses and remains committed to expanding access to nursing education to help address the national shortage.

HCA Healthcare has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere for the 16th time, placing it among only four honorees in the Healthcare Providers and Services category in 2026. The recognition is based on Ethisphere’s Ethics Quotient assessment, which reviews more than 240 proof points covering corporate governance, ethics and compliance programs, training and communication, measurement of ethical culture, and environmental and social impact.

Founded in 1968
Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr. and other physicians wanted to raise capital and procure the latest medical technology for Nashville’s Park View Hospital in the mid-1960s, but couldn’t find a group that would be the right fit. The answer: HCA Healthcare, founded in 1968.
HCA Healthcare in London
HCA caters for almost half of all private patients in London. HCA’s London hospitals include The Wellington Hospital, just north of London’s West End, which is the UK’s largest private hospital, along with The Portland Hospital, which is the only acute hospital of its kind in London.
HCA Healthcare’s Park View Hospital
Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr. founded Park View Hospital in 1960 after was unable to admit his patients to the not-for-profit and church-affiliated hospitals that dominated Nashville in the 1950’s. He served as Park View’s CEO until 1968, when Park View became HCA’s first hospital.
Largest in 1973
HCA Healthcare became the largest, publicly owned, hospital management company in 1973, only four years after the company’s first IPO.
